  I decided to give Vision Express a go, given my awful experience with Specsavers last year. The staff were great, the right mix of friendly and professional. The eye test was very thorough, and they didn’t charge extra for the photography, which Specsavers do. I wasn’t pressurised into buying (again, Specsavers do).   this was my first time coming to vision express, i was feeling anxious about my appointment as i didn't know what to expect. when i arrived at the Bishop Auckland store, i was greeted and taken to do the first part of the appointment. Ryan stoke to me and took his time to explain what would happen during my appointment, and assured me that i would be okay as we discussed that i was feeling nervous. Then Vicky did the next part of my appointment, she also took her time to everything to me. Then for the last part of my appointment, Jean helped me choose a pair of glasses. She didn't rush me or pressure me into making a quick decision, she really took her time and helped me decide. my appointment was a few days ago now, but i still keep thinking about how lovely the members of staff were in the Bishop Auckland store.   Took my boys for their eye tests this evening, after relocating twice, this is our third opticians and it's the best by far, lovely staff, absolutely brilliant optician (William I believe), he was so funny and fantastic with the kids!   Great front of store staff! Great range of glasses! Terrible experience with optician. After explaining my complicated eye history and how much my vision has deteriorated to the optician he tried multiple lenses. After a short time he became visibly irritated by my complex needs and soon became abrupt with conversations heated on his part. Although he pointed out that on occasion I had contradicting opinions on the lenses he used I explained that was because no lens he had used had improved my ability to see but some had improved the clarity. He began trying lenses again and after trying out two lenses sent me off with a prescription. I am not confident that the prescription he gave me is going to suit my needs (especially given that the lens he had me try didn’t improve my vision there and then) but rather that he gave me something to end the appointment as quickly as possible. I have attended specsavers for years but due to a healthy colleague discount at work I decided to give vision express a try. I have not yet received the glasses so I can’t comment on this part of the process however I will be paying close attention to if the prescription is even right for me. I only ordered glasses 2 days ago and already I have received 4 text messages telling me I can track the progress of my order - very annoying - 1 message is sufficient.   As my first ever eye test, it was very well explained and comfortable. Having been assessed and needing 2 prescriptions, or varifocals I was taken into the shop to chose a pair of frames, having never worn glasses and being very self concious did not know where to start. The young gentleman Ryan was so helpful in choosing frames to suit me and obviously had plenty of knowledge and experience.   What a wonderful service from the Bishop Auckland staff. Ryan the Optical Assistant carried out some tests 1st and what a lovely young man. He made me feel so much at ease even during the test where the sudden puff of air went in to my eyes. William the optician was amazing explaining each and every thing he was doing to check the health of my eyes and the prescription I needed. What a lovely character he is and I would imagine very patient with children and adults with complex needs. After the test I was shown some glasses which Ryan helped me choose and anotehr very pleasant member of staff. I noticed the seating was discenfected as each client left. 10/10 for service, care and also an excellent sense of humour from both Ryan and William. They are a credit to Vision Express. Thank you so much.I had to use my Daughter's Google account.   Staff are lovely, I paid nearly £300 for a pair of glasses. I Will pay more in future as I have done in the past at spec savers for better quality. Money is tight so I cut corners at Vision express.   Took my 6 year old for an eye test today. He has a very limited attention span 5 - 10 minutes however the optician was brilliant. He made the whole process fun and engaged with him constantly.   Got my prescription completely wrong. Ordered 2 frames. Larger for sunglasses &smaller for everything else. Came back wrong g way round, tint incorrect &wrong bifocals. Then to correct it took about 4 weeks Finally got everydayones &now waiting for sunglasses to be done. Peter the manager has been quite helpful trying to sort everything out.   Feel conned by these guys at the moment. I sat on my glasses and broke the frame so went in for some new ones. I was told I had to have an eye test and then they told me after that the cheap frames I had before are now discontinued so they showed me a similar but more expensive version which I paid for. A month and a half later the glasses are causing me vision problems and headaches. I rang them today and it turns out they changed my prescription in the new glasses. I specifically told them I wanted the same prescription as I already had. It seems that after talking to 2 people that I know need an optician to ring me but due to covid it might not be this week !!! Not sure how that helps me and after being a few hundred pounds out of pocket, it feels as though they are just ignoring me again and telling me I am wrong. He was the first to use a 3d image camera that gives whole new scope to having assurance that the eyes are all clear and no nasty disease are showing. A big plus bonus. Then next step was yes sight test. Now we were impressed again. With and up to date eye test machine. Making it a whole new experience. This was our second eye test we have had with them. The on line dilvery is so fast. Tracking every step to receiving the new glasses. Be hear in a blink of a eye. 48 hrs from the time we step foot in the door. One stop vision to go is vVision Express. Well done to all colleagues. I would recomend any one from you to old. To health and not so healthy. You will be well looked after.
